Mikayla proudly volunteers frequently for queer, arts, and community organizations.
Mikayla enjoys her career in the voluntary sector. She adores seeing the work she completes directly influence and benefit the community. To kickstart this, she has been involved in boards and community service groups for decades helping in direct service delivery and being a leader in the community and tasks she oversees.
Mikayla completed Algonquin College's Fundraising and Donor Relations program with honours and achieved Western University's Professional Certificate in Not-For Profit Management. Currently, she is a student in Carleton University's Masters in Philanthropy and Nonprofit Management. Future interests include Human Resources certifications.
Currently, I work fulltime as the Administrative Coordinator for St. Joseph's Parish -- a busy Roman Catholic church and social service centre in central Ottawa.
I am also part time -- casual for the Rideau Chorale as Choir Coordinator, primarily doing social media and volunteer coordination.
In early 2026, I was honoured to receive the Simone Joyaux Memorial Award, which goes to "an outstanding student who demonstrates volunteer leadership as a critical thinker, change-maker and bridge-builder". This award is given to one individual annually, who is a student in the Masters of Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership (MPNL) program at Carleton University.
